Onset of athlete’s foot – how to recognize the first symptoms?

Mycosis of the feet is nothing dangerous and it is very easy to cure it. This infection is quite common because it is estimated that 15-30% of people living on our planet suffer from it. Where does it come from and how to deal with it?

Athlete’s foot: symptoms and causes

It is believed that a healthy body is able to protect itself against fungal infections. However, when your immunity is slightly compromised, the fungi will be able to penetrate the skin and settle there for good.

Usually, the onset of athlete’s foot is usually similar. The skin on the feet is slightly red, then itching, burning and sometimes even swelling appear. However, once you see tiny bubbles on your feet, it means that the fungi have settled down there for good.

Until now, it has been believed that ringworm can be contracted mainly from contact with infected objects. Meanwhile, it turns out that the factors that favor the growth of fungi are e.g. traveling! Remember your last vacation. Were you told to take your shoes off and walk through the gate during the security check? If so, and you were in socks, you were very lucky. Thousands of people in front of you, on that one day alone, also took off their shoes and walked barefoot to this part of the airport.

Other factors that contribute to the development of ringworm are regular use of saunas and swimming pools, and even frequent visits to a beautician! The next time you go for a manicure and pedicure, ask about how your salon disinfects tools that are used, for example, when cutting cuticles. Perhaps it’s time to change your beauty salon?

However, there are also other circumstances where your feet are more prone to catching infections. If:

  • you suffer from excessive foot sweating,
  • you have dry skin
  • problems with blood supply to the limbs,
  • minor injuries or wounds,

you are at risk.

What to do? Take double care of your feet. When your shoes get chafed at the wedding, don’t go crazy on the dance floor barefoot, but wear flip-flops or sandals. They will let your feet take a break from the adjacent footwear, and at the same time isolate you from the dirty floor.

If you are very active and do sports at least a few times a week, you should also be careful. During increased effort, the foot sweats and macerates, as in long baths, and in this state it is easier for the mushrooms to attack.

Athlete’s foot: prevention

To avoid this minor but vexing problem, keep a few things in mind. Some of them are obvious and you probably always have them in the back of your head, but others you may not have thought of at all.

Certainly, whenever you go to the swimming pool or sauna, you do not walk barefoot on the floor, but you have rubber door handles or flip-flops on. But has it occurred to you to thoroughly dry your feet and interdigital spaces after each bath? Ringworm likes moisture, so try to avoid it like fire.

In summer, hide full shoes deep in the closet! However, if the situation forces you to wear all shoes, remember about natural cotton socks.

Never wear footwear that is too tight and one in which you just feel that your foot is “choking”.

Such a decoction can also be used topically, e.g. in the form of compresses. Before going to bed, wrap your feet with a bandage soaked in the decoction, then protect them against leaks with nylon bags and put on warm socks.

If you are not enthusiastic about this, you can try the slightly less drastic version. Just in the evening, pour the warm stock into a bowl, dip your feet in it, and at the same time do what gives you the greatest pleasure. Turn on your favorite series or reach for a book.

The overall condition of the skin will also be improved by a yeast bath. How to prepare it? Dissolve 50 decagrams of yeast in a half-filled tub.

Mycosis of the feet: preparations and medications

To get rid of athlete’s foot as quickly as possible, reach for preparations that contain bifonazole. Apply this substance topically to skin lesions caused by fungi, yeasts and molds. Bifonazole damages their cell membranes and thus kills pathogenic cells. This chemical compound is contained in such preparations as Steper Pro or Canespor (formerly known as Mycospor).

What about burning, itching and deteriorated skin conditions? It is best to look for creams that, in addition to alleviating these ailments, also moisturize and protect the skin. Good creams contain natural ingredients such as:
